The ultimate guide to the 2026 Chinese Grand Prix

Motorsport Wednesday January 21, 2026 By: Harry Howes

While it seems like yesterday that Lando Norris made history by clinching his first-ever F1® title, it’s almost time for the brand-new season. The 2026 Formula One World Championship races into action in March and we’ll be there to witness all the highs, the lows and everything in between.

This year, we’ll also have exclusive access to the hospitality suites in the F1® Paddock Club at some of the biggest races in the calendar. Take your hospitality experience up a gear and join us for an experience you’ll never forget at the Chinese Grand Prix.

When is the Chinese Grand Prix?

Once again, the Chinese Grand Prix will be the second race in the calendar. It takes place on Sunday 15th March, a week after the traditional curtain-raiser in Australia. The Formula One world will flock to the Shanghai International Circuit, where the race has been held ever since being introduced to the schedule back in 2004. As well as the main event, the Chinese Grand Prix weekend also features a sprint race, adding extra excitement to the event.

While Oscar Piastri ultimately finished third in the standings behind McLaren teammate Norris and Max Verstappen, it was in China where his 2025 season got going. The Australian raced to glory in Shanghai to claim his first win of the campaign and it spawned a run of five wins in six races.

While reigning champion Norris is yet to taste victory in China, the course is no stranger to British triumph. Lewis Hamilton has won the race a record six times, with his last Grand Prix win coming back in 2019.

However, in 2025 he rolled back the years to win the sprint race in China and claim Ferrari’s first ever win in that format. Legendary driver Hamilton struggled in his debut year for his new team after making the move from Mercedes and he’ll be looking to repeat history this year and secure a seventh Chinese Grand Prix win in March.
