From summer to autumn: How sporting events shift in September

Latest Events Monday September 22, 2025 By: Andrew Morgan

As we wave goodbye to summer, it’s also time to bid farewell to the summer sports that we’ve been enjoying over the last few months. The familiar soundtrack of grunting tennis players and driven cricket shots has been replaced by roaring football crowds and powerful rugby tackles.

As we head into autumn, with colder afternoons and gloomier skies, the sporting landscape shifts to reflect the season. We’ve enjoyed a glorious summer of sport including phenomenal horse racing festivals, a thrilling Test match series and yet another memorable fortnight at Wimbledon.

With autumn on the horizon, horse racing shifts from exciting flat racing to mud-soaked jumps afternoons, while the football and rugby seasons begin to pick up momentum. Meanwhile, the Formula One calendar that has toured Europe throughout the summer is set to go further afield in order to make the most of sunnier weather in South America and the Middle East.

But while the sporting landscape is naturally shifting, nothing changes for us here at Engage. We’re still offering premium hospitality packages for all the biggest events, including Premier League football, the Quilter Nations Series and the home straight of the 2025 Formula One season.

Football

Following a summer break packed with the Club World Cup and the Women’s Euros, domestic football is back and is as exciting as ever. Liverpool are looking to retain their Premier League crown and have taken no chances, splashing out on plenty of new faces in the transfer market.

They’ve started off in blistering form, winning all five of their opening matches so far. However, both Arsenal and Manchester City have looked good and will fancy their chances at challenging for the title.

Football is one sport that goes on regardless of the weather and we’ll be there for the biggest matches throughout the autumn. With exclusive hospitality packages available at the best grounds in the country, why not join us and be part of the action?

Rugby

Fans of rugby will be delighted that summer is over, as that means one thing – their favourite sport is back. There’s nothing quite like seeing big tackles, powerful scrums and incredible tries on a muddy pitch.

As well as domestic rugby, autumn also sees the return of the Quilter Nations Series, with England looking to build on a solid performance in the Guinness Men’s Six Nations earlier this year.

Steve Borthwick’s side welcome Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and Argentina to the Allianz Stadium, and you can enjoy all the action from the best seats in the house with our premium hospitality experiences.

Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood are distant memories, while summer evening horse racing is over for another year. But don’t worry as there’s still plenty of action to look forward to during the business end of 2025.
