Rugby League

Rugby League showcases some of the toughest and most skilful teams in the world, competing in both domestic and international tournaments.

At the top of the domestic game is the Betfred Super League, now featuring 14 teams from across England and France following its expansion for the 2026 season. Hull KR are the current champions, having completed a historic treble in 2025 by beating Wigan Warriors 24-6 in the Grand Final.

The Super League season concludes with the play-offs, culminating in the Grand Final at Old Trafford. Clubs also battle it out in the Challenge Cup, Rugby League’s oldest knockout competition, with Wigan Warriors lifting the 2026 trophy at Wembley Stadium after beating Hull KR 40-10.

On the international stage, the Rugby League World Cup returns to Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea in October and November 2026, bringing together the sport’s top nations including England, Australia and New Zealand. Test series and annual tournaments like the Ashes add further excitement, delivering some of the most intense rivalries in world sport.
