The Grand National 2025 - Day 3

The Grand National is a handicap horse race that began in 1839 at Aintree racecourse in Liverpool, England. At a distance of around 4 and a half miles, consisting of multiple jumps and obstacles, it is one of the longest races in Britain and Ireland.

It is watched by 600 million people in over 140 countries, with around 150,000 people ascending on Aintree every year. The Grand National is regarded as the most popular and watched horse racing event in the world, taking place annually in spring.

It is recommended that the easiest way to access Aintree is via train.

Merseyrail trains will stop directly opposite the racecourse at Aintree Station, with extra trains running frequently on race days. Please check National Rail for times and changes.

If travelling into Liverpool Lime Street Station, you can find Liverpool Central Station located a short walk away where you can catch the train to the racecourse.
