Ascot is located in Berkshire, England, around 25 miles west of London. Ascot was founded in 1711 by Queen Anne who came across the land when riding out from Windsor Castle. The racecourse is rich in history and sees hundreds of thousands of racegoers every year.

The event can be accessed easily by train. South Western Railway runs a frequent service to Ascot from both Reading, Guildford and London Waterloo.

In 2025, Ladies Day at Royal Ascot will take place on Thursday, June 19th. This third day of the Royal Meeting is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and is considered the pinnacle of the event.​

Ladies Day is celebrated for its fusion of outstanding horse racing and elegance. Traditionally, it encourages attendees, especially women, to showcase their most stylish outfits, creating a glamorous and festive environment. The tradition dates back to 1823, when an anonymous poet described the Thursday of the Royal Meeting as the day ‘when the women, like angels, look sweetly divine.’

Adhering to the dress code is essential for Ladies Day attendees. In the Royal Enclosure, ladies must wear dresses or skirts that fall just above the knee or longer, with shoulder straps of at least one inch in width. Hats are mandatory, though a headpiece with a solid base of at least four inches is acceptable. Strapless, off-the-shoulder, halter neck, and spaghetti straps are not permitted. Trouser suits are welcome but must be of matching material and colour. 

Women are expected to wear a dress or top with a skirt featuring shoulder or halter neck straps, a matching trouser suit, or a jumpsuit, paired with a hat, headpiece, or fascinator. Men should attend in a full-length suit (two- or three-piece), with a collared shirt, tie, and socks.

Women and children should follow the same dress guidelines as those for the Queen Anne Enclosure. Men are also expected to follow this dress code, though they have the option to wear full-length trousers or chinos in this enclosure.
