Introduction to Royal Ascot Ladies’ Day 2025

Royal Ascot’s Ladies Day is a highlight of the British social calendar. It blends top-tier horse racing with high fashion and elegance. Scheduled for Thursday, June 19th, 2025, this event promises an unforgettable experience of sport and style.

When is Ladies’ Day at Ascot 2025?

In 2025, Ladies Day at Royal Ascot will take place on Thursday, June 19th. This third day of the Royal Meeting is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and is considered the pinnacle of the event.

What is Ladies Day at Ascot?

Ladies Day is celebrated for its fusion of outstanding horse racing and elegance. Traditionally, it encourages attendees, especially women, to showcase their most stylish outfits, creating a glamorous and festive environment. The tradition dates back to 1823, when an anonymous poet described the Thursday of the Royal Meeting as the day ‘when the women, like angels, look sweetly divine.’

Dresses for Ascot Ladies Day: Fashion and Dress Code

Adhering to the dress code is essential for Ladies Day attendees. In the Royal Enclosure, ladies must wear dresses or skirts that fall just above the knee or longer, with shoulder straps of at least one inch in width. Hats are mandatory, though a headpiece with a solid base of at least four inches is acceptable. Strapless, off-the-shoulder, halter neck, and spaghetti straps are not permitted. Trouser suits are welcome but must be of matching material and colour.

Royal Ascot Queen Anne Enclosure Dress Code

Women are expected to wear a dress or top with a skirt featuring shoulder or halter neck straps, a matching trouser suit, or a jumpsuit, paired with a hat, headpiece, or fascinator. Men should attend in a full-length suit (two- or three-piece), with a collared shirt, tie, and socks.

Royal Ascot Village Enclosure Dress Code

Women and children should follow the same dress guidelines as those for the Queen Anne Enclosure. Men are also expected to follow this dress code, though they have the option to wear full-length trousers or chinos in this enclosure.

For all enclosures, fashion trends for 2025 suggest a mix of classic elegance and modern flair. For instance, a tailored suit paired with chic accessories offers sophistication, while monochrome outfits exude the timeless style of Ladies Day. Incorporating vibrant colours can also make a bold statement.

Your Ladies Day fashion checklist:

Dresses and skirts should be of modest length (just above the knee or longer).
Straps must be at least one inch wide—strapless, off-the-shoulder, and halter-neck styles are not allowed.
Hats are required, but you may wear a headpiece with a solid base of at least 4 inches (10cm).
Trouser suits are permitted but must be of matching material and colour.
Jumpsuits are acceptable if they meet the length and strap requirements.
