2026 League Two Play-off Final - Salford v Notts County

2026 League Two Play-off Final - Salford v Notts County

The League Two Play-Off Final 2026 is set to provide all the passion and unpredictability that make lower-league football so special.

Every year, the League Two Play-Offs deliver stories of resilience, last-minute winners, and unforgettable celebrations. The 2026 final will be no different, as fans from across the country descend on Wembley to back their sides in one final push for promotion glory.

Salford City needed extra time to get past Grimsby Town, eventually winning 4-3 on aggregate in a breathless tie at the Peninsula Stadium, with Kallum Cesay firing low into the bottom corner three minutes from the end of extra time to seal Salford’s place in the final, having trailed on the night after two controversial Grimsby goals levelled the tie. Notts County, meanwhile, secured their passage with a composed display against Chesterfield, holding the Spireites to a goalless draw at Meadow Lane after winning the first leg 1-0 away, with Jayden Luker’s first-half finish from Tom Iorpenda’s low cross proving the decisive moment of the tie. For Salford, backed by the Class of ’92 ownership group, victory would mean reaching League One for the first time in the club’s history, while Notts County, the oldest professional football club in the world, are seeking a return to the third tier for the first time since their relegation back to League Two in 2015.

Last season’s League Two Play-Off Final saw AFC Wimbledon edge out Crawley in a closely fought contest that went down to the wire. It was a dramatic end to a fiercely competitive season, and another reminder of just how much the Play-Offs mean to players and supporters alike.
