Everything you need to know about the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024

If you’re a fan of beautiful gardens, stunning flower displays and vibrant events with a relaxed atmosphere, we’ve got some good news – it’s almost time for the Chelsea Flower Show!

The iconic event put on by the Royal Horticultural Society is a British tradition and ahead of the five-day celebration, here’s everything you need to know.

What is the Chelsea Flower Show?

Simply put, the Chelsea Flower Show is a celebration of all things horticulture, offering the best flower and gardening displays the world has to offer. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re a flower expert, a budding gardener, or you simply just enjoy strolling through beautiful nature displays.

One of the most prestigious events in British culture, the Chelsea Flower Show was first held more than 100 years ago way back in 1912. It had previously been known as the Great Spring Show, starting out in Kensington 1862 before moving to the Temple Gardens.

Since the move to Chelsea, it’s established itself as a staple in the calendar for all gardening and flower enthusiasts, with the royal family among the show’s admirers. Royal members regularly attend the event, including the late Queen Elizabeth II, who last visited two years ago.

The Chelsea Flower show attracts more than 157,000 visitors every single year as enthusiastic attendees travel from all over the country. While the first two days are strictly for RHS members, the remainder of the event is open to anybody.

When is the Chelsea Flower Show?

The prettiest event of the year takes place over five days and truly marks the end of spring. The Chelsea Flower Show gets underway on Tuesday 21st May and comes to a close on Saturday 25th May.

Gardeners from all over the world will present their displays in a number of different categories. Judges will cast their eyes over the offerings, awarding their favourites with gold, silver gilt, silver and bronze medals.

As well as these winners, there will also be plenty of special awards handed out across the week. Visitors can enjoy a number of different areas throughout the show, with the main attraction being the Floral Marquee, housing gardens designed by some of the biggest names in horticulture.

Hospitality packages

If you fancy heading to the Chelsea Flower Show this year, why not treat yourself and enjoy the event in style?

Chef Patron Skye Gyngell, who is one of Britain’s most renowned chefs, has put together a delicious bespoke menu, with food served throughout the private chalets. You can take a seat at shared tables or entertain guests from the comfort of a private area.

The hospitality areas are located in the Spring Garden, with three different packages on offer.

Spring Meridian: A daytime package that offers a light breakfast, four-course lunch and afternoon tea. Refresh yourself in the garden bar with champagne and hand-crafted cocktails and enjoy entertainment from the pianist and live band.

Spring Nocture Dinner: An evening package that provides you with a champagne and canape reception, as well as a four-course dinner and access to the garden bar. A roaming band will provide the evening entertainment as guests can visit the fromagerie station.

Spring Nocture Tasting Dishes: This package is similar to the dining experience, except with delicious tasting dishes in place of the evening meal. Guests will receive champagne and canapes, as well as the chance to access the garden bar and fromagerie station.

Chelsea Flower Show dress code

While the Chelsea Flower Show is traditionally a classy affair, its relaxed atmosphere means there isn’t a hugely strict dress code. Visitors are encouraged to adopt a smart casual look, combining polished and refined garments with casual elements.

With members of the royal family often in attendance, guests often use the opportunity to dress to impress with smart attire.

How to get there

The event takes place in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea and is easily accessible by tube. The closest underground station is Sloane Square, which is on the Circle and District lines and is just a 10 minute walk away.

Meanwhile, the nearest main train station is Victoria which offers several bus routes to the venue. For those wishing to drive, it is recommended that you pre-book a parking spot in nearby Battersea Park. From there you’ll be able to take a shuttle bus (which is also open to those not using the car park), with services running throughout the day.

As the Royal Hospital Chelsea is just a stone’s throw from the River Thames, you might fancy arriving by boat. Uber Boat and Thames Clipper services run all day and can drop you off at both Cadogan Pier and Battersea Power Station.

Everything you need to know about the Grand National 2024

The world will be watching Aintree on Saturday afternoon as some of horse racing’s biggest stars go head-to-head in the Grand National. While all eyes will understandably be on the iconic showpiece race, the three-day festival gets underway on Thursday.

Racing fans both in Liverpool and watching on TV will be treated to 21 thrilling races, with hundreds of horses and jockeys looking to make a name for themselves. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the event.

The Grand National

Having first taken place in 1839, the Grand National has become one of the world’s most prestigious races over the last 185 years. Run over around 4 miles and 2 ½ furlongs, horses will need to navigate 30 testing fences before reaching the winning post.

Countless famous horses and jockeys have been victorious in the race over the years, with Red Rum arguably the most well known of all. The Irish horse notably won back-to-back races in 1973 and 1974, before coming back to complete the hat-trick in 1977. Remarkably, Red Rum finished second in the two intervening years.

Following animal rights protests disrupting the race last year, there have been a number of changes implemented to ensure the safety of the horses. The field has been reduced from 40 to a maximum of 34, which minimises the risk of horses falling.

The race will now begin from a standing start instead of a rolling one, while the first fence has also been brought forward slightly. Both of these measures will reduce the speed of the horses during the start of the race. Similarly, fence 11 has been reduced in height, as has the drop on the landing side.

This year’s Grand National will get underway at 4pm, rather than the traditional 5:15pm start. Reigning champion Corach Rambler is looking to become the first horse to secure back-to-back nationals since Tiger Roll five years ago.

Derek Fox rode to victory a year ago, edging 2 ½ lengths clear of runner-up Vanillier, who is back to try and go one better than last time out. The pair will face stiff competition from the Willie Mullins trained I Am Maximus, who won the Irish Grand National in 2023.

Everything you need to know about Salon Privé

Classic car fans, assemble – everybody’s favourite luxury car show is returning to London next month. The Salon Privé is heading to the Royal Hospital Chelsea for three days in April, giving car lovers the chance to take a closer look at some of the finest classic cars around.

The spectacular lawns will be transformed into a stunning presentation of luxury automobiles. From Aston Martins from the ‘60s to new and exclusive cars debuting at the show, attendees will have the chance to treat themselves to anything that catches their eye.

As well as the wonderful range of cars to enjoy, visitors to the Salon Privé can also take advantage of our exclusive hospitality packages, which offer a three-course lunch on days one and two, as well as a family-friendly buffet on day three.

As well as a complimentary bar to keep you refreshed in between exploring the thrills that the event has to offer, you can also enjoy a relaxed, comfortable environment, with attractions and performers guaranteed to keep you entertained.

The Salon Privé at Royal Hospital Chelsea is set to be an incredible event and if you enjoy it and fancy some more, we’ll be doing it all over again for the grand finale at Blenheim in August.

Day 1 – Thursday 18th April

The opening day of the Salon Privé will be a celebration of Porsches as we toast the 50-year anniversary of the 911 Turbo. For one day only, guests can peruse a vast collection of Turbos through the ages lined up along the lawn.

Thursday also represents the first day of the Concours de Vente. Learn the histories of all the classic cars on offer and, as they’re all for sale, there’s the opportunity to purchase the items as well.

Day 2 – Friday 19th April

While day one is dedicated to Porches, the second day is all about McLaren. Join us for Ladies’ Day and discover the biggest variety of McLaren models ever seen in London.

Meanwhile, the Concours de Vente continues for those in the market for a new car, or simply those interested in taking a look. There will be 75 classic cars for sale, including Bentleys, Ferraris and Aston Martins.

Day 3 – Saturday 20th April

The last day of the event, but certainly not the least, is Supercar Saturday. Enjoy a luxury display of supercars on the lawn in a collaboration with SCC Private Members Club.

The final day will also see awards presented to the models in the Concours de Vente, with attendees able to vote for their favourite in the ‘People’s Choice’ award. It’s also the last chance to see the best new cars and motorcycles debuting at the Salon Privé.

Salon Privé dress code

While the Salon Privé is a high-end event, they prefer to keep things relaxed and encourage a sophisticated dress code without being too formal. Gentlemen are advised to wear a comfortable suit or blazer with chinos, along with a pair of brogues.

Ladies are encouraged to don chic attire like a summer dress, trousers or a jumpsuit. They’re also advised to wear shoes that they can comfortably wear to walk on gravel paths and lawns. For this reason, wearing stiletto heels is not recommended.

Cheltenham Festival dress code

If you’re taking advantage of one of our exclusive hospitality experiences at Cheltenham, please be aware that there is a dress code in operation. Luckily it’s not the same as the jockeys, so leave your silks at home and get ready to dress to impress.

Men must wear a suit or jacket with a tie. Meanwhile, ladies should wear smart attire and while hats are optional (and classy!), they’re not compulsory. Fancy dress is not allowed.

Getting to Cheltenham

If you’re using public transport, Cheltenham Spa train station is four miles from the racecourse. Don’t worry, there’s no need to walk in your high heels – a shuttle bus service is in operation for £5 return and there are taxis available too.

Those driving from the north should exit the M5 at junction 9 and continue via Evesham Road (A435). Take a left into Southam Lane and enter the North Car Park via entrance 10. If you’re coming from the south, leave the M5 at junction 11, follow the A40 and A4013 and the signs for ‘Green Route’ will take you to the racecourse.

What to wear at all our major 2024 events

We offer exclusive hospitality packages at all of the major sporting events in the UK and we’d love for you to join us. But before you go, be aware that different venues operate their own dress codes. Luckily for you, we’ve put everything you need to know all in one place.

Royal Ascot

The fanciest festival in racing has a strict dress code and for good reason – the royal family often attend Royal Ascot. The policy varies slightly depending on the enclosure but typically, men must wear a matching suit with a shirt and tie, while women should wear a dress or top and skirt with shoulder straps, as well as a hat or fascinator.

No formal dress code is enforced for regular jump race meetings, although you are encouraged to dress in a smart manner.

Henley Royal Regatta

Events don’t get more British than the Henley Royal Regatta, which gives punters the chance to dress to impress. It’s a formal event, with ladies expected to wear dresses or skirts that fall below the knee. Hats are traditionally worn, although they’re not compulsory.

Meanwhile, men should wear lounge suits, or a jacket or blazer with flannels, paired with a collared shirt. Ties are encouraged but not mandatory, while shorts, jeans and trainers are strictly off limits.

Cheltenham

One of horse racing’s most prestigious event returns next month, with thousands of racing fans gearing up for the Cheltenham Festival. Men are required to wear a suit or a jacket and tie, while ladies should don smart wear. Hats are optional but fancy dress is strictly forbidden.

Chelsea Flower Show

Although every year guests flaunt incredible looks, there is no official dress code for the Chelsea Flower Show. Dressing to impress is encouraged at one of Britain’s most prestigious events.

For women, skirts, dresses and trousers are all suitable choices, with floral prints and bright colours popular. As the event is mainly on grass flats or chucky heels are advised.

For men smart casual attire is recommended. Light coloured polo shirts and floral print smart shirts are commonly seen each year. Chinos and linen trousers are also a fan favourite for the bottom half.

Twickenham

The Six Nations comes around again in 2025 and with four Autumn Nations Series games to come later in the year, we know what you’re all thinking: “What do I wear?” Luckily, we’ve got you covered so you won’t look out of place in the home of rugby’s hospitality areas.

Twickenham has a relaxed dress code, meaning you can dress casually. The only rule is that you don’t wear scruffy trainers or ripped jeans. And if you’re there cheering your team on, nobody is going to stop you – you’re more than welcome to wear your favourite rugby shirts and scarves.

Salon Privé

Salon Privé guests do not shy away when it comes to vibrant, glamorous looks. Generally, the dress code at the event is labelled as ‘garden party’ attire, where gentlemen are recommended to wear blazers, chinos and brogues. Ladies should wear chic daywear including summer dress, skirts and trousers. Hats and fascinators may also be required on certain days of the event.

Shorts and T-shirts are not permitted at Salon Privé.

Lord’s

There’s plenty of cricket action to look forward to at Lord’s this summer, including England’s Test matches against the West Indies and Sri Lanka. If you’re watching Bazball from the best seats in the house, the dress code is smart casual. Feel free to wear casual trousers, smart jeans and tailored shorts – just make sure you’re not wearing ripped denim, sports trainers or flip flops.

Wimbledon

Pimms and tennis go hand in hand and you can enjoy plenty of both from our hospitality areas at Wimbledon this summer. There’s no need to splash out on a Ralph Lauren suit to match the umpires – they only operate a smart casual dress code.

Emirates Old Trafford

Is there any better way to celebrate the end of summer than by watching an England Test match at Old Trafford? Watch the cricket in style in Manchester, where they operate a smart casual dress code.

Smart jeans and trainers are allowed but tracksuits, shorts and offensive t-shirts are not. And while it may be just down the road from Manchester United’s iconic stadium, football shirts are also off limits.

Wembley

With England internationals and the FA Cup final to look forward to, Wembley is the place to be to watch football this year. We offer plenty of exclusive hospitality packages, with all areas operating a smart casual policy with no ripped jeans or sports trainers. There’s no official dress code in Club Wembley but you’re not allowed to wear replica shirts.

Silverstone

The British Grand Prix marks the midway point of the F1 season and Lewis Hamilton will be desperate to win at Silverstone for a record ninth time. Join us in hospitality for the best views of the track, where a smart casual dress code applies. Jeans and smart trainers are allowed and if it’s a baking hot day, don’t worry because tailored shorts are also fine.

BRIT Awards 2024: Everything you need to know

Awards season is in full swing and they don’t get much more exciting than the BRITs. A celebration of British music and beyond, the iconic ceremony returns to London next month.

Once again, the BRITs will take place at the O2 Arena, with Clara Amfo, Maya Jama and Roman Kemp set to host proceedings. The event will take place on Saturday 2nd March and will be broadcast live on ITV.

RAYE, Dua Lipa and Kylie Minogue have been announced as performers for the show and all three will have their fingers crossed that they’ll be going home with one (or more!) of the famous Britannia statuettes. Jungle and Rema will also be taking to the stage, with more acts likely to be announced.

Harry Styles dominated last year’s BRITs, picking up four awards including ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Artist of the Year’ and ‘Song of the Year’. And fellow boy band member turned solo artist Robbie Williams is the most successful BRITs winner in history, having won a record 13 awards on his own, as well as another five as part of Take That.

Ahead of this year’s event, we’ve outlined everything you need to know.

Can RAYE make history?

Following an incredible 2023, British singer RAYE has broken the record for the most-ever BRIT nominations in a single year.

The 26-year-old is up for seven different awards including ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Artist of the Year’. RAYE also has two tracks up for ‘Song of the Year’, and she’ll be hoping to scoop gongs for ‘Best New Artist’, ‘Pop Act’ and ‘R&B Act’.

She’s the favourite to win ‘Album of the Year’ with her stunning record My 21st Century Blues, although the likes of Little Simz, Blur and J Hus will be hoping to pip her to the title. Meanwhile, Dua Lipa, Fred Again and Dave are her main rivals for ‘Artist of the Year’.

In fact, Dua Lipa is also in contention for ‘Song of the Year’ with Dance The Night as well as ‘Pop Act’ and she’ll be looking to add to her collection, having already previously won six BRIT awards.

RAYE’s hits Escapism and Prada are among those vying to be crowned the year’s best song, while Dave and Central Cee will be hoping they can claim the honours with Sprinter.

Who else could win at the BRITs?

Taylor Swift caught headlines this week as she proudly watched NFL star boyfriend Travis Kelce retain the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs. And the singer could be celebrating again next month having been nominated for ‘International Artist of the Year’. But she’ll face stiff competition in a category that includes the likes of Kylie Minogue, Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey.

Elsewhere, iconic britpop band Blur have a rich history with the BRITs. Damon Albarn and co. have won five awards and the 1996 ceremony saw their feud with Oasis peak. Blur made their comeback last year and have been rewarded with three nominations for ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Group of the Year’ and ‘Alternative/Rock Act’.

Watch the Brits from the best seats in the house

The iconic awards will be broadcast live on ITV but if you’d rather be there to see them in person, you’re in the right place. We’ve got three exclusive hospitality packages that give you access to the show and after party.

You can enjoy a delicious three-course pre-show meal with our Diamond Dining experience or watch all the action from the comfort of a private Sapphire Suite, complete with complimentary drinks. To book your place at this year’s BRIT Awards, enquire about our hospitality packages today.

Everything you need to know ahead of the NFL London Games

The NFL season is in full swing and we’re all set for the biggest few weeks in the American football calendar – if you live in London, that is! The NFL London Games are back, with three matches across consecutive weekends to look forward to at Wembley and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

All teams across the divisions have played at least two matches and following the conclusion of NFL London, we’ll have a much clearer idea of who might be in contention to contest the Super Bowl in February.

The season so far

After winning the Super Bowl, the Kansas City Chiefs have started strongly, winning two of their opening three matches. They’ve won seven consecutive AFC West titles and they’re among the favourites to go all the way again this time.

One of their wins came against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who play twice at NFL London. They’ve suffered two defeats so far despite being the pre-season favourites to top the AFC South.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers started the campaign as outsiders to win the NFC South division as they adjust to life without the retired Tom Brady. They don’t seem to be missing the legendary quarterback too much, winning both of their games so far, although narrowly, with Baker Mayfield impressing since replacing Brady.

It’s not been plain sailing for the Cincinnati Bengals so far. They were well backed to do well this season but they’ve lost both of their matches. Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphin and San Francisco 49ers are having fun, with both sides enjoying a 100% start to the season.

The Dolphins broke their franchise record on Monday as they achieved just the fourth ever 70-point game, destroying the Denver Broncos 70-20 thanks to a stunning performance from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

NFL London Games

The NFL returns to London this weekend with the first of three mouth-watering fixtures to look forward to during October. With American football rarely played on this side of the Atlantic, it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy the sport in style with Engage’s exclusive hospitality packages.

Ahead of the action, we’ve taken a closer look at the teams that will be strutting their stuff in the capital in the coming weeks.

Jacksonville Jaguars v Atlanta Falcons – Sunday 1st October, Wembley Stadium

The Jacksonville Jaguars are regulars in London, having appeared at every NFL London series since 2013. Their appearances have seen them develop a following on this side of the pond and their UK-based fans will be hoping they can turn their fortunes around.

Doug Pederson’s side were the favourites to top the AFC South ahead of the season but they’ve had a slow start, winning just one of their opening three games. They face the Atlanta Falcons who have won twice so far, despite being in a tough division alongside the New Orleans Saints.

The Falcons have played in London twice before, losing to the Detroit Lions in 2014 before beating the New York Jets on their return two years ago.

NFL WEMBLEY

Buffalo Bills v Jacksonville Jaguars – Sunday 8th October, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

The Jaguars, who are one of just four franchises to have never played in the Super Bowl, come up against the Buffalo Bills in their second NFL London contest. It’s a rematch of their 2015 meeting in London, which the Jaguars edged 34-31.

The Bills are the favourites to top a competitive AFC East this season ahead of the Jets, the imperious Dolphins and the New England Patriots. They got off to a rocky start but have bounced back in their last two games to thrash the Las Vegas Raiders and the Washington Commanders.

They face the Dolphins in a tricky tie this weekend before meeting the Jaguars at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tennessee Titans v Baltimore Ravens – Sunday 15th October, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

The final match of the 2023 NFL London Games sees the Tennessee Titans go toe-to-to with the Baltimore Ravens. The Titans are in AFC South alongside the Jaguars and after losing two games so far, they’ll be hoping their luck will change in London.

They’ve added DeAndre Hopkins to their roster this season and they’ll be looking for him to make a difference after they were humbled 27-3 by the Cleveland Browns at the weekend.

The Ravens have started strongly with two wins so far and they have quarterback Lamar Jackson to thank. The 26-year-old missed much of last season with a knee injury and despite fears he may leave, he put pen to paper on a bumper new contract earlier this year.

Jackson helped the Ravens to wins in their opening two games but they’re looking to bounce back after coming up short against the Indianapolis Colts at the weekend.

The London Tottenham Stadium is kitted out with red, blue and white flags to celebrate the NFL London Games

ICON Golf Day: Everything you need to know

The ultimate golf day is just around the corner! We’re counting down the days to one of the biggest events in our calendar – the 2023 ICON Golf Day.

This year’s event takes place on Wednesday 20th September at The Grove, the iconic golf course situated in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside.

We’re looking forward to welcoming people from all over the country for a day that promises celebrity guests, mouth-watering food and, most importantly, a competitive round of golf.

What to expect on the day

The Grove is located just 18 miles from London and we’re delighted to bring our famous ICON Golf Day to its beautiful surroundings, which is the former home of the Earls of Clarendon.

Our guests will enjoy exclusive use of the clubhouse and golf facilities at The Grove, as well as a bespoke 18-hole menu from innovative chef Jimmy Garcia. There will be food and drink facilities on every hole, as well as an on-course DJ to keep the party going throughout the day. All you need to do is bring your golf clubs!

Golf professionals will be on hand to offer coaching tips to our guests, who will have access to the driving range and putting green to put their new skills into practice.

Keep your eyes peeled for celebrity appearances and ‘beat the ICON’ competitions, as well as plenty of other opportunities to win prizes. Including our hole-in-one hole.

On our ICON Golf Day at The Grove in May 2022, we saw an unbelievable hole-in-one which saw our guest pick up a brand new car. It was his first ever hole-in-one and what a time to do it, on our specifically designated prize hole.

It was a euphoric moment on the course and one that he and we will never forget. Fancy your chances at bagging an ace?

The Grove

The Grove is home to one of the world’s most scenic golf courses, situated within 300 acres of British countryside. It hosted the British Masters back in 2016 and was the scene of a 2006 World Golf Championship event, which was won by Tiger Woods.

Barack Obama has played at The Grove and he joins a long list of celebrities to have tried their hand on the course. The likes of Andy Cole, Chris Robshaw, Ryan Sidebottom, Danny Mills, Matt Prior, Mark Foster, Micky Hazard and DJ Spoony have all previously been guests at our ICON Golf Day.

As well as the championship golf course, The Grove is home to a luxury hotel, an award-winning spa, several state-of-the-art restaurants and a host of activities for guests of all ages.

The Grove is just a 20-minute train from London, followed by a short taxi ride from Watford Junction. It can also be accessed via mainline services from Birmingham New Street and Manchester Piccadilly.

Don’t miss out next year

Our ICON Golf Day is always one of the best and most popular days in the Engage calendar. If you’re joining us on the day we can’t wait to see you there but if you’re not, sadly all of the places for this year have been filled.

Luckily, our next event is just around the corner and there are still limited spaces for our ICON Golf Day in May. Plus, we’ll be hosting another one in September 2024.

It truly is an unforgettable day so if it sounds like something you’d like to be a part of, don’t hesitate to get in touch with bookings on 0207 048 4848 to reserve your place.
