Community Shield

The Community Shield is the opening match of the season and puts two of the most successful teams of last season up against each other.

Typically at Wembley, the winner of the Premier League will face the winner of the FA Cup to win the first available trophy of the season.

The winners in recent years have consisted of Manchester United, Manchester City and Leicester City, with Arsenal lifting the trophy in 2023.

The Gunners secured victory in a penalty shootout victory over Manchester City, after a 1-1 draw in normal time. It was a brilliant way for Mikel Arteta’s men to start their season.

It is a match that is always sure to two great teams facing each other at the start of the season, a week before the Premier League kicks off.
