Chelsea v Sunderland
Recently promoted Sunderland travel down to London to play Chelsea.
Chelsea rebounded impressively under Enzo Maresca in 2024/25, securing a fourth-place Premier League finish. They also lifted their first major trophy of the BlueCo era by triumphing in the UEFA Conference League, becoming the only club to complete wins in all three current UEFA competitions.
Sunderland return to the Premier League for the 2025/26 season after a hard-fought promotion campaign after winning the play-off final.
This marks the first league meeting between Chelsea and Sunderland since the 2016/17 season. The last time the two clubs met in the Premier League, Chelsea came out on top winning 1-0 at the Stadium of Light, and a convincing 5-1 victory on John Terry’s Stamford Bridge farewell.
The Blues will be the favourites going into this game and will look to get the victory against the newly promoted Championship side.
