Aston Villa continued their upward trajectory under Unai Emery, securing European qualification with consistent performances throughout the season, narrowly missing out on Champions League football.

Brentford, led by Thomas Frank, endured a difficult 2024/25 season, finishing in the lower half of the table. Despite injuries to key players and a lack of consistency, the Bees showed enough resilience to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle and will be looking to reset and rebuild heading into the new campaign.

In their previous encounters last season, Villa took six points from their opponents. In December, Villa came out on top at Villa Park winning 3-1. Later in March, Villa picked up a hard-fought 1-0 win away from home, thanks to a goal from Ollie Watkins.
