Liverpool face West Ham in the quarter final of the Carabao Cup, as both teams look to secure their semi final place in the 2023/24 edition of the competition.
Liverpool come into the match as favourites after wins against Leicester and Bournemouth lead them to the latter stages of the competition. Jurgen Klopp’s men are coming off the back of a trophyless season in 2022/23, something that has become a slight anomaly for the Merseyside team since the German’s arrival. He will be hoping his team can get back on track with a trophy in 2023/24 and the Carabao Cup is the first chance to do just that.
West Ham come into the quarter final off of the back of a brilliant victory over Arsenal in the round of 16. A wonderful piece of skill by new signing Mohammed Kudus, followed by a finish to match saw the Hammers well on their way to victory as a goal from Jarrod Bowen wrapped things up for Moyes’ men.
Liverpool have won the EFL Cup on the most occasions with nine victories, and both they and Manchester City have won four League Cups in successive years. West Ham on the other hand have never been victorious in the competition, with their best results coming in the 1965/66 and 1990/81 season, where they finished as runners-up.
